It started with an English grade.
It was 1990, in a small town at the foot of the Ural Mountains. A girl named Elena was looking at her latest English grade at school — and she wasn't happy.
English seemed almost impossible. The words were difficult to pronounce. The grammar rules seemed endless. Sixteen tenses seemed impossible to remember.
Her parents offered solutions: “We can find you a tutor.” “We can buy you another textbook.” But something else happened. Time passed.
The girl chose English as her major. She completed a PhD in Comparative Linguistics. She spent time in the UK, worked as an interpreter for an international company, and eventually became a university English professor.
And somewhere along the way, she discovered something important: She didn't need another textbook. She didn't need someone sitting beside her every time she learned. She had become an independent learner.
Her story isn't unique. In fact, it is probably the story of many successful language learners.
People take courses. Change teachers. Buy textbooks. Download apps. Prepare for international exams. And yet, when they have to use English in real life, they can still find themselves searching for words, hesitating, or wondering whether what they are saying is actually right.
Because eventually, the teacher isn't there. The textbook isn't there. The app isn't there. You are.
Every learner's journey is different. There is no single method, textbook or teacher that can take you all the way. Good teaching matters. Good materials matter. Guidance matters. But at some point, learning has to become your own.
That is where Read & Write Studio comes in.
